Schweizer Electronic drives rail safety and inspires future professionals through the Rail Safe Friendly Programme

Schweizer Electronic, a family-owned company deeply committed to rail safety, is actively advancing safety awareness and career opportunities in the railway industry through its engagement with the Rail Safe Friendly programme.

Neil Bradbury, Managing Director of Schweizer Electronic emphasised the company’s dedication, stating, “Rail safety is a passion of mine. We focus on keeping workers and the public safe daily.” Schweizer Electronic has been working closely with local schools to educate children on critical rail safety topics, including level crossing safety and the dangers of trespassing.

Recently, Schweizer Electronic hosted students from William MacGregor Primary School, showcasing how they apply global insights to implement best practices in the UK, enhancing railway safety. The students were particularly engaged in a railway crossing demonstration and observing the equipment in operation.

Megan Nicholson, Acting Deputy Headteacher of William MacGregor Primary School, praised Schweizer Electronic’s efforts, saying: “Both staff and children have been so complimentary about what Neil and his team have done today. The children were so enthusiastic about the different activities they got to do.”

With a small team, Schweizer Electronic has already reached 16,560 children across 44 schools. Neil encourages larger companies to join the Rail Safe Friendly Programme, stating, “To me, it’s a no-brainer to join,” emphasising the potential for widespread impact.

Beyond safety, Schweizer Electronic is dedicated to career development within the industry and actively participates in school career events, aiming to inspire the next generation of rail professionals. Neil highlighted the diverse career paths available, noting: “There’s a whole raft of big trains that you can follow within the rail industry.”

Schweizer Electronic plans to continue its school engagement, offering presentations and participating in career events to further promote rail safety and career opportunities.
